We initially surveyed 74 of our 118 Management/Non-Safety classifications. Of those 74 surveyed, we narrowed our
benchmarks to these 22 due to the availability of statistically valid and comparable information from other agencies.
When comparing job classifications, we compared positions that are substantially similar. Regardless of similarities, there wi1/ be
some variation in duties and responsibilities. For this reason, a deviation of +/- 5% is considered acceptable when comparing
salaries. Our recommendation is to adjust the salary of any classification that is more than +/- 5%, or two salary grades, out of
alignment.
