ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING
JULY 13, 2000
The July 13, 2000, adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Poway, was called to order at 6:00 p.m., by Mayor Cafagna at the City Council Chambers,
13325 Civic Center Drive, Poway, California.

Mayor Cafagna explained the procedure for Public Oral Communications. There was no
one present wishing to speak.

PRE-DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE 00-02
WAL-MART/TESORO. APPLICANT
Staff report by City Manager Bowersox. The purpose of the pre-development conference
is to allow the applicant an opportunity to present their proposal and get some feedback
from Council, however no action can be taken at this meeting. Should the applicant wish
to proceed, a formal application would need to be filed. This is a request to consider the
establishment of a gasoline station within the Wal-Mart parking lot at 13425 Community
Road within the Commercial General zone. The facility would consist of six dispensers,
a 4,536 square foot canopy and a 165 square foot pay booth. This project would require
a Conditional Use Permit.
The following person was present wishing to speak:
Mark Hayden, 3665 Ruffin Road, representing Tate and Associates, gave an overview of
the proposed project, discussed how potential customers would be routed to the gas
pumps, and potential public improvements.

Councilmember Goldby left the meeting at 6:35 p.m.
General discussion ensued. Council concurred that the applicant should work with staff
regarding design, location and traffic issues should they decide to submit a formal
application.
ADJOURNMENT
Mayor Cafagna adjourned the meeting at 6:40 p.m., on motion by Councilmember Emery,
seconded by Deputy Mayor Higginson with Councilmember Goldby absent.
