RESOLUTION NO 09-002
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA,
APPROVING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A RETIREMENT
HEALTH SAVINGS PLAN FOR SAFETY EMPLOYEES
WHEREAS, representatives of the Poway Firefighters' Association have met and
conferred in good faith with representatives of the City of Poway in accordance with
Government Code Section 3500; and
WHEREAS, as a result of these meetings it is recommended that the City
implement a Retirement Health Savings Plan for employees, and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to encourage and support the prudent use of
employee sick leave, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Poway wishes to adopt said
Retirement Health Savings Plan
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Poway
as follows.
1 That the City of Poway shall enter into an agreement with ICMA
Retirement Corporation to provide a Retirement Health Savings Plan for
the employees of the Safety Unit on or before March 1, 2009
2. That the plan shall be structured according to the provisions set forth in
the Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Poway and
Poway Firefighters' Association effective July 1, 2008
PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Poway
at a regular meeting this 20th day of January, 2009
