RESOLUTION NO 09-009
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POWAY,
CALIFORNIA, PROHIBITING STOPPING, STANDING, OR PARKING
ON THE WEST SIDE OF POMERADO ROAD 120 FEET SOUTH OF NINTH STREET
AND INSTALLING RED CURB FOR BUS LOADING ZONE
WHEREAS, Section 21100 of the California Vehicle Code permits local authorities to
adopt rules and regulations by Ordinance or Resolution to regulate traffic by means of official
traffic control devices, and
WHEREAS, Section 21351 of the California Vehicle Code permits local authorities to
place and maintain such traffic signs upon streets and highways as may be necessary to
properly indicate and carry out the provisions of the local ordinances and to warn or guide
traffic; and
WHEREAS, Section 10.28080 of the Poway Municipal Code authorizes the City
Council to prohibit stopping, standing or parking in order to facilitate the movement of traffic or
eliminate a hazardous condition, and
WHEREAS, Section 10.28 190 of the Poway Municipal Code authorizes the City
Council to determine the location and establish loading zones, passenger loading zones, and
bus loading zones, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Poway has determined that the west side of
Pomerado Road, 120 feet south of Ninth Street should be established as a "No Stopping,
Standing, or Parking at Any Time" bus loading zone to improve traffic flow and safety
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of poway as
follows
Section 1 In accordance with Section 21351 of the California Vehicle Code and Section
10.28 190 of the Poway Municipal Code, the west side of Pomerado Road, 120 feet south of
Ninth Street, shall be established as a "No Stopping, Standing, or Parking at Any Time" bus
loading zone
Section 2. In accordance with Section 10.28.240 of Poway Municipal Code, 120 feet of the
westerly curb on Pomerado Road south of Ninth Street shall be painted red for a bus loading
zone
