AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CJkLTI~DRNIA
AMENDING TITLE 2, CHAPTER 2.04 OF
THE POWAY MUNICIPAL CODE BY THE
AMENDMENT OF SECTION 2.04.020 TO INCREASE THE
COMPENSATION OF THE MAYOR AND MEMRF. RS OF
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POWAY DOES ORDAIN AS ~'IOT.T~:
SECTION 1: Title 2, Chapter 2.04 of the Poway Municipal Code is amended by
the amendment of Section 2.04.020 to read as follows:
Each mamber of the City Council shall receive as salary the sum of $400.00
per month as authorized by Section 36516 of the Government Code for cities over
35,000 and up to and incl,~a(ng 50,000 in population, payable at the same time
and in the same manner as salaries are paid to other officers and employees of
the City.
The salaries established by this section are exclusive of any amounts
payable to each member of the City Council as reimbursement for actual and
necessary expenses incurred in the performance of official duties for the City.
This section shall become operative only on and after the date upon which
one or more members of the City Council become eligible purs,~ant to Section
36516.5 of the Government Code for a salary increase by virtue of beginning a
new term of office following adoption of this section. Until such date, each
member of the City Council shall continue to receive as salary the sum of $200
per month or upon amendment of the Government Code authorizing earlier operative
effect.
~'FECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective Jan,~ary 1, 1985, and the
City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance and cause it to be
published at lea-~t one in the Poway New Chieftain within fifteen days after its
adoption.
Introduced and first read at a regular ~cting of the City Council of the
City of Poway held the 7th day of May, 1985, and thereafter PASSED AND ADOPTED
at a regular n~cting of said City Council held the 14thdaY of May , 1985,
by the following roll call vote:
