AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA,
AMESDING TITrR 2, CF~m~TER 2.04 OF THE
POWAY ~3NICIPAL CODE BY THE AMENDMENT
OF S~CTION 2.04.020 TO INCREASE THE
COMPENSATION OF THE MAYOR AND M~4BERS
OF THE CITY OOUNCIL ~FFECTIVE

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POWAY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: Title 2, Chapter 2.04 of the Poway Municipal Code is amended by
the amendment of Section 2.04.020 to read as follows:
2.04.020 C~]-~oensation. Each member of the City Council shall receive
as salary the sum of $400 per month as authorized by Section 36516 of the
Government Code for cities over 35,000 and up to and including 50,000 in popula-
tion, payable at the same time and in the same manner as salaries are paid to
other officers and employees of the City.
The salaries established by this section are exclusive of any amounts
payable to each member of the City Council as reimbursement for actual and
necessary expenses incurred in the performance of official duties for the City.
This section shall become operative only on and after the effective date
hereof. Nothing herein shall be construed as authorizing an increase in salary
for any period of time prior to the effective date of this ordinance. This
section shall further be operative on and after the date upon which one or more
members of the City Council becume eligible purs-mnt to Section 36516.5 of the
Government Code for a salary increase by virtue of beginning a new term of
office following adoption of this section. Until the effective date of the
salary increase provided hereby, each member of the City Council shall continue
to receive as salary the sum of $200 per month.
EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty
(30) days after the date of its passage; and before the expiration of fifteen
(15) days after its passage, it shall be published once with the names and mem-
bers voting for and against the same in the Poway News Chieftain, a newspaper of
general circulation published in the City of Poway.

City of Poway held the 30th day of July, 1985, and ther~fter PASSED AND ADOPTSD
at a regular ~mccting of said City Council held the 6th day of August, 1985, by
the following roll call vote:
