A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA
PROVIDING THE TERMS OF OFFICE OF THE MAYOR
~ DEPUTY MAYOR
WHEREAS, the City of Poway, California was incorporated on December 1,
1980, as a general law city of the State of California; and
WHEREAS, as its first act, City Council, City of Poway, California,
has duly selected the first and second Mayor and first Deputy Mayor of the
City, and
WHEREAS, it is the intention of the City Council of the City of Poway
to establish the terms of office for the Mayor and Deputy Mayor as here-
after provided,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Poway DOES RESOLVE,
DETERMINE AND ORDER as follows:
Section 1. The first Mayor and Deputy Mayor shall serve terms begining
December 1, 1980 and ending at the first regularly scheduled meeting in
August, 1981, at which time the second Mayor shall take office and the
Council shall again hold an election for Mayor and Deputy Mayor. There-
after the term of office for Mayor and Deputy Mayor shall be as provided in
Section 2.
Section 2. Except for the first and second duly selected Mayors and
Deputy Mayor of the City of Poway, California, the Mayor and Deputy Mayor
shall be elected at the first regularly scheduled meeting in April of each
even-numbered year which follows certification of the election, and at the
first regularly scheduled meeting in April of each odd-numbered year, and
shall hold office for one year or until their successors are elected.
