Res 18RESOLUTION NO. 18 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA COMMENDING THE POWAY HIGH SCHOOL MARCHING BAND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, Poway High School's marching band has been representing the community of Poway and winning awards throughout Southern California for many years; and WHEREAS, most recent among the dozens of competitions Poway High School marching band has won this year was first in its class at the Ail- Western Band Review, held November 29, 1980 at Long Beach, California; and WHEREAS, on January 1, 1981, the Poway High School marching band will be one of the 24 bands marching in the "Tournament of Roses" Parade in Pasadena, California, the second time in three years it has been selected to march in this parade; and WHEREAS, on this occasion the Poway High School marching band will not only represent the Poway Unified School District and its student body but will also carry the message of Poway's new cityhood nationwide by carrying a banner proclaiming "POWAY - CALIFORNIA'S NEWEST CITY." NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Poway, as follows: The City Council and the entire coueunity of Poway commends the 150 members of the Poway High School marching band and its Director, Lar Best, and takes great pride in having this fine marching band representing our City. ADOPTED and APPROVED this 23rd day of December, 1980. MAYOR ATTEST: CITY CLERK
