AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA
AMENDING SECTION 8.94.050 OF THE POWAY MUNICIPAL
CODE ENTITLED "STAGE 1 NORMAL CONDITION"
Whereas on June 7, 1988, the City Council of Poway directed staff to
amend the City's water conservation plan; and
Whereas the amendment to the water conservation plan will encourage
voluntary wise use of water.
Now, therefore, be it ordained by the City Council of the City of
Poway, that Section 8.94.050 of the Poway Municipal Code is repealed and
replaced as follows:
8.94.050 STAGE I. Normal Conditions. When the City Manager has
declared that the City's water supply is in a normal condition, customers
are asked to use water wisely and to practice the following water conser-
vation measures so that water is not wasted:
1. Parks, golf courses, and school grounds should be irrigated at
night only.
Other lawn watering and landscape irrigation should be done only
between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. If a hand-held hose or drip irri-
gation system is used, watering may be done at anytime.
3. There should be no washing down of driveways, parking lots, or
other paved surfaces.
Private car/truck washing should be done using a bucket. Hoses
should only be used with automatic shut off nozzles. Vehicles may
be washed at a commercial car wash where the water is recycled;
5. Restaurants will be asked not to serve water to customers, unless
specifically requested;
6. Filling of swimming pools should be limited to every fifth day;
7. Unmetered services used for irrigation should not be used between
6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.;
Agricultural customers and commerical nurseries should use water
only between 6:OD p.m. and 10:00 a.m. Watering of livestock is
permitted at anytime.

EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty
{30) days after the date of its passage; and before the expiration of fifteen
{15) days after its passage, it shall be published once with the names and mem-
bers voting for and against the same in the Poway News Chieftain, a newspaper
of general circulation published in the City of Poway.
Introduced and first read at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Poway held the gth day of August, 1988, and thereafter PASSED AND
ADOPTED at a regular meeting of said City Council held the 30th day of
August , 1988 by the following roll call vote:
