Res 185RESOLUTION NO. 185 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA URGING THE FEDERAL INSURANCE ADMINISTRATION TO COMPLETE NEEDED FLOODPLAIN STUDIES WHEREAS, the National Flood Insurance Program was passed by Congress in 1968; and WHEREAS, the National Flood Insurance Program requires proDer floodplain management; and WHEREAS, the City of Poway is now in the emergency phase of the National Flood Insurance Program; and WHEREAS, there are large areas within the City that are subject to special flood hazards; and WHEREAS, property owners within cities under the regular phase of the National Flood Insurance Program are eligible for more equitable flood insurance coverage; and WHEREAS, floodplain information is widely disseminated in communities in the regular phase of the National Flood Insurance program, particularly to homeowners, homebuyers and institutions making home loans; and WHEREAS, Flood Insurance Studies in the City of Poway are not now complete, and are needed for adequate floodplain management. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of Poway urges the Federal Insurance Administration to complete needed floodplain studies as proposed in the July 14, 1981 letter from the Board of Supervisors to the Federal Insurance Administration.
