A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA
REVISING THE SCHEDULE OF FEES AND CHARGES
FOR EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES
WHEREAS, the City of Poway provides emergency medical services
as part of the operation of-the fire department; and
WHEREAS, rules, regulations, fees and charges for services have
previously been established for the operation of these services; and
WHEREAS, it has been necessary to revise these rules, regulations,
fees and charges from time to time; and
WHEREAS, the fee schedule was last revised by the Poway Municipal
Water District on June 17, 1980; and
WHEREAS, an~analysis of the current fee schedule indicates that
an increase in these rates is warranted;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Poway as follows:
That the following schedule of charges and fees are hereby adopted
to be effective with respect to all emergency medical services
provided after 8:00 a.m. July 1, 1982.
1. FEES FOR SERVICES
Base charge $60.00
Mileage charge (per mile) $ 3.25
Night call (7 p.m. to 7 a.m.) $12.00
Oxygen used $12.00
Code 3 transportation (emergency) $12.00
2. MEDICAL SUPPLIES
That in addition to the above fee schedule sufficient charges
will be applied to recover the actual cost of medical supplies
used for each patient.
3. TRANSPORTATION OF MULTIPLE PATIENTS
That if multiple members of the same household are transported at
the same time, only the first patient would be subject to pay-
ment of the mileage, Code 3 or Night fee. The additional
family members receiving medical transportation and care would
be subject only to the base charge and charges for medical
supplies utilized.
' 4. COMPUTATION OF MILEAGE
That mil~age charges shall be computed on the basis of the
actual or approximated miles traveled from the pickup point
to the delivery point.
