Res 267RESOLUTION NO, ~ A RESOLUTION OF THE cITY coUNCIL OF THE cITY OF PoWAY REQUESTING THAT THE NUTRITION pROGRAM OF THE PoWAY VALLEY SENIOR cITIZENS, INC. BE FUNDED AS A TITLE III NUTRITION pROGRAM wHEREAS, since january, 1976, the poway valley Senior citizenS, Inc. has been providing a senior citizenS nutrition program which now serveS more than 500 meals weekly; and WHEREAS, the fiscal crisis of the State of california will cause the nutrition program to cease operation unlesS other sources of funds are forthcoming; and WHEREAS, the City council of the City of poway has contributed funds which will enable the Poway Valley senior citizens, Inc. to continue the nutrition program for four months; and WHEREAS, it has been the stated objective of the poway Valley Senior citizenS, Inc. to be totally self-sufficient without need for State or Federal funding; and WHEREAS, projectS which will enable the poway Valley Senior citizenS, Inc. to be self-sufficient have been started and are expected to be completed during the next year; and WHEREAS, the current potential loss of the poway Valley Senior citizenS, Inc. nutrition program could be averted through funding as a Title III Nutrition Program under the older AmericanS Act. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT REsoLVED by the city council of the city of poway that the county of San Diego, the Area AgenCy on Aging of the County of San Diego, the california Department on Aging, the Legislature of the state of california, and the United States Government assist the Poway Valley senior citizens Inc. with funding as a Title III Nutrition program until suCh time as they are able to be self-sufficient- APPROVED and ADOPTED by the city Council of the city of poway, State of California, this 15th day of July, 1982. d~on, Mayor ATTEST: a~lsten, Czty uzer
