A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA
RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 78
AND PROVIDING PERMANENT AND MEDICAL
WORKERS COMPENSATION BENEFITS
FOR VOLUNTEER WORKERS
WHEREAS, volunteer workers provide a valuable asset to the City
of Poway; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Poway deems it to be in
the best interest of the City to encourage volunteer workers; and
WHEREAS, Volunteer Fire Fighters are provided full workers com-
pensation benefits as required by the Labor Code; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Poway wishes to provide
permanent disability and medical workers compensation benefits to
volunteer workers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Poway as follows:
1. That Resolution No. 78, excluding volunteers from workers
compensation insurance is hereby rescinded.
2. That volunteer workers be provided permanent disability
and medical workers compensation benefits.
3. That the City Manager be authorized to amend the contract
with the State Compensation Fund to provide these benefits or that the
benefits be provided through a legally self-insured plan.
PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of
Poway, California, at a regular meeting thereof this 10th day of August,
1982.
