A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA
JOINING THE WORKERS COMPENSATION
PROGRAM OF THE
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA JOINT POWERS
INSURANCE AUTHORITY
The City Council of the City of Poway, California, does hereby find
and resolve as follows:
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 990, 990.4, 990.8
and 6500 et seq. of the Government Code the Southern California Joint
Powers Insurance Authority was created by a Joint Powers Agreement, and
this City has become a Member of said Authority; and
WHEREAS, the Southern California Joint Powers Insurance Authority
has established a workers compensation self-insurance and loss-pooling
program for its member cities; and
WHEREAS, said workers compensation program offers significant
advantages to the cities participating in terms of cost savings and
services provided.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of Poway does hereby resolve, order
and determine the following:
Section 1: That participation by this City in the workers compensation
self-insurance and loss-pooling program of Southern California Joint Powers
Insurance Authority is hereby authorized commencing October 1, 1982.
Section 2: That an initial annual deposit premium for such program
$129,760 and a loss retention of $50,000 per claim are approved.
Section 3: That the City Manager and the Director of Administrative
Services are designated as representatives of this City for the purpose of
liason with the Authority.
Section 4: That this Resolution shall be effective immediately, and
that the City Clerk is directed to forward a certified copy thereof to
Southern California Joint Powers Insurance Authority, 3662 Katella Avenue,
Suite 207, Los Alamitos, California 90720.
PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Poway,
California, at a regular meeting thereof this 28th day of September, 1982.
