A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO WRITE-OFF BAD CHECKS
AND UNCOLLECTIBLE ACCOUNTS
IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $250.00
WHE~AS, through the normal course of business the City receives bad checks
and incurs bad debts; and
~E~AS, the City staff takes every reasonable effort to avoid incurring bad
debts by requiring deposits where appropriate and by verifying a person's identify
and address when accepting a check; and
WHEREAS, the City staff makes every reasonable effort to collect on all unpaid
accounts; and
~EREAS, it is necessary to write-off bad debts in order to avoid overstating
accounts receivables and to keep the City books current in accordance with reco~ended
accounting principles.
NOW, THE~FORE, BE IT RESOLED by the City Council of the City of Poway,
California that the City Manager is hereby authorized to write-off any amount not to
exceed $250.00 after first determining that a reasonable effort has been made to
collect the amo~t.
BE IT FURTHER ~SOL~D that any account in excess of $250.00 may only be written
off by action of the Poway City Council.
PASSED AND ~OPTED by the City Council of the City of Poway, California, at
a regular meeting thereof this 22nd day of March, 1983.
