Res 11-004RESOLUTION NO. 11 -004 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA DETERMINING THAT THE FIRE STATION 2 APPARATUS STORAGE BUILDING DESIGN PROJECT IS OF BENEFIT TO THE PAGUAY REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT AREA WHEREAS, the Poway Redevelopment Agency is authorized to carry out the redevelopment of the Paguay Redevelopment Project Area; and WHEREAS, the City of Poway ( "City "), in partnership with the local business and residential community, has identified a need for a fire engine apparatus storage building at Fire Station 2 ( "the Project ") to provide needed improvements to a community facility, that is currently inadequate, for the expansion of City services and uses; and WHEREAS, the Agency is desirous of assisting the City in providing the Project by paying for the cost of design of the Project ( "Project Design "); and WHEREAS, the Project is located within the Paguay Redevelopment Project Area and the improvements are necessary for the execution of the Project Area under the provisions of California Community Redevelopment Law (Health and Safety Code, Section 33000 et seq.) and pursuant to the Redevelopment Plan for the Project Area which was adopted on December 13, 1983, by Ordinance No. 117 of the City Council and amended on June 15, 1993, by Ordinance No. 415 of the City Council; and WHEREAS, Section 33445 of the California Health and Safety Code requires the City Council to determine that the Project is of benefit to the Paguay Redevelopment Project Area and that no other reasonable means of financing are available to the City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Poway as follows: Section 1. The City Council hereby determines that the Project and Project Design will be of benefit to the Paguay Redevelopment Project Area and the surrounding community in that the Project will provide needed improvements to an inadequate community facility for the expansion of City services and uses. Further, the project will meet goals listed in the Redevelopment Plan, as amended on June 15, 1993, and in the Redevelopment and Housing Implementation Plan, which include the provision of needed improvements to the community's educational, cultural, residential, and other community facilities. Section 2. The City Council further determines that no other reasonable means of financing the improvements are available to the community. Resolution No. 11 -004 Page 2 Section 3.
