A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OOUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA,
OPPOSING NEW F~DERAL R~OUIRKMENTS
FOR DISASTER ASSISTANCE
WHEREAS, the Federal Rnergency Management Agency (F~MA) has established new
criteria which must be completed by entities seeking federal disaster assistance
under Public Law 93-288; and
WHEREAS, such criteria require new additional information which must accom-
pany requests for Presidential Declarations of smergency or disaster; and
WHEREAS, the new criteria place an undue burden on all local governments at
a time when they are already utilizing all available resources to deal with
protection of life and property; and
WHEREAS, scme of the information my not be available, or my not be
available in time to obtain a Presidential Declaration and subsequent federal
assi stance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVE) that the City Council of the City of Poway,
Cm]~fornia, opposes the new federal requirements for disaster declarations and
urges the Federal Emergency Manag~nent Agency (FMMA) to reconsider and
str~mline the requirements.
PASS~D, ADOPTED AND APPROVED, by the City Council of the City of Poway,
Cm]ifornia, at a regular meeting thereof this 27th day of March, 1984.
