A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA
A33THORIZING THE CITY'S PAKTICIPATION IN THE
COUNTY OF SAN DIEGO'S Sk~i~'~'S WORK R~.v. ASE PROGRAM
~, the San Diego County Sheriff's Depa~ hLLent has developed a work release
program to reduce jail overcrowding by placing eligible sentenced persons at
various work assignments to improve or mintain public facilities on a voluntary
basis in lieu of confinement (Pe_nml Code 4024.2); and
WHEREAS, the County of San Diego has made this program available to County
municipal agencies on a mutually agreed basis; and
WHEREAS, the City of Poway is contracting with the County of San Diego for law
enforc~nent by the County Sheriff's Department and recognizes the nccd to
reduce jail overcrowding; and
WHEREAS, the City of Poway has need in its Public Services Depa~hL~ent for
additional manpower to help accc~plish its labor intensive maintenance programs.
N~, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Poway does resolve as follows:
The City approves of participation in the County of San Diego
Sheriff's Work Release Program as defined in the Worksite
Agreement and directs the City Manager to designate a contact
person to serve as liaison with the Sheriff's Department for
th_is program.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Poway, State of
California, this 8th day of May, 1984.
