Res 84-041RESOLUTION NO. 84-041 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PO~AY, CALIFORNIA, NAMING APREVIOUSLYUNNAMED GEOGRAPHICAL SITE AS VAN DAM PEAK IN ~DNOR 0F ~. &~RS. ~D VAN DAM A~D RESCI~E)ING RESOLUTION NO. 83-60 WHEREAS, Mary Frank was born in 1890 and moved to Poway in 1893, 90 y~rs ago; and WHEREAS, after graduating from Escondido High School and San Diego Normal School, Mary Frank taught school in San Diego County and Imperial Valley; and WHEREAS, she met Ed Van Dam in 1917 in Imperial Valley, they married in 1919 and returned to Poway in 1921; and WHEREAS, Mr. Van Dam served as County Superintendent of Roads from 1933 to 1961, and Mrs. Van Dam taught school to two generations of Powegians; and WHEREAS, Ed and M~ry Van Dam are an integral part of the history of Poway and it is the desire of this City Council to name a previously unnamed pe~k in their honor. NOW THEREFORE, BF. IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Poway that: The pe~ak, whose crest is at elevation 1,038 feet, located north of Poway Road, west of Pcmerado Road, in the north half of the southwest cp~rter of Section 15, is hereby designated as Van Dam P~k. 2. The City Clerk is directed to cc~mmicate this action to the appropriate County, State and Federal mapping agencies and to the united States Board of Geographic Names. 3. ~.solution No. 83-60 is hereby rescinded.
