RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALT~ORNIA,
ADOPTING REGULATIONS PERTAINING TO
~ 6, 1984 ~ ~UNICIPAL ~.FCTION
WHEREAS, Section 10012 of the Elections Code of the State of California
specifies that before the nomination period opens, the local agency for that
election shall determine whether a charge shall be levied against the candidate
for the Candidate's Stat~a~ent; whether or not the limitation on words for such
statement shall be increased frc~ 200 to 400 words; and whether or not the can-
didate for elective office will be permitted to prepare separately other
~aterials to be sent to each voter in addition to the sample ballot and the
voter ' s pamphlet;
WHERF~, Section 10012 of the Elections Code of the State of California
further provides that a written statement of the regulations with respect to
charges for handling, packaging and Failing shall be provided to each candidate
or his representative at the ti~e he picks up his nc~ination papers;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Poway
does hereby set forth the following re~!ations pertaining to the General
Municipal Election to be held November 6, 1984:
a)
Each candidate shall pay in advance fifty dollars ($50.00) for the
printing and distribution of the Candidate's Stat~ent in the
voter ' s pamphlet.
b) The Candidate's Stat~ent shall be limited to a ~axi~u~ of 200
words.
c)
Candidates

ballot and the voter's pamphlet.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER Pm~OLVED that each candidate or his
representative shall be provided with a copy of this Resolution at the ti~e he
picks up his nomination papers.
PASSED, ADOPTED A~D APPROVED, by the City Council of the City of Pow-ay,
California, at a regular ~eeting thereof this 19th day of June, 1984.
