A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PO~AY,
CALIFORNIA ESTABLISHING FIRE ACCESS ROAD
STANDARDS
WHEREAS, Section 10.207(a) of the 1982 Uniform Fire Code as adopted by
the City of Povray, requires that the installation of an "all weather" access
road prior to and during the time of construction of a project, and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the public to establish a uniform
set of guidelines for the construction of fire access roads.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Poway
that prior to delivering combustible materials on a construction site in lieu
of permanent road improvements, a fire access road shall be installed to the
following standards or equivalent, to the satisfaction of the City Engineer:
A. October 15 to April 15 Inclusive
1. Subgrade ............... 90% Minimum Compaction
2. Base ................. Minimum 4", Class II Base
Conloacted to 90%
3. Surface ............... Minimum 2" Hot Mix Asphalt
4. Width ................ Mininum 20 '
5. Line and Grade ............ To the Satisfaction of the City
Engineer and Fire Marshal
6. Drainage ............... To the Satisfaction of the City
Engineer
B. April 16 to October 14 Inclusive
1. Subgrade ............... 90% Minimum Compaction
2. Surface ............... Mininum2" Hot MixAsphalt
3. Width ................ Mininum20'
4. Line and Grade ............ To the Satisfaction of the City
Engineer and Fire Marshal
