A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OOUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CATWFORNIA,
AUTHORIZING STAFFTOWRITE OFF
BAD C~ECKS ~AD UNOOLL~CTIBLE ACCOUNTS
~ RESCI~DING~-qOLUTIONNO. 83-014
WHEREAS, through the normal course of business the City receives bad checks
and incurs bad aehts; and
WHEREAS, the City staff takes every reasonable effort to avoid incurring bad
debts by requiring deposits where appropriate and by verifying a person's
identity and address when accepting a check; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to write off bad debts in order to avoid over-
stating accounts receivables and to keep the City books current in accordance
with recc,,~nded accounting principles.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Poway,
California, that the Director of Administrative Services is hereby authorized to
write off any amDunt not to exceed $1,000 after first determining that a reason-
able effort has been made to collect the amount.
BE IT b~3Ri~{ER R~-qOLVED that any account in excess of $1,000 may only be
written off by the City Manager.
Resolution 83-014 is hereby rescinded.
