Res 86-065RESOLUTIG~ NO. 86-065 A RESC~L~ION C~ %~E CITY CUJNC~. c~ THE CI~ ~ ~, ~, ~R ~.~ ~I~ P~~ ~ ~4EREAS, Section 10012 of the Elections Code of the State of California pro- vides that the governing body of any local agency adopt regulations pertaining to materials prepared by any candidate for a municipal election, including costs of the candidates stat~_nt. Section 1. G~qERAL PROVISIONS. That pursuant to Section 10012 of the Elections Code of the State of California, each candidate for elective office to be voted for at an election to be held in the City of Poway may prepare a candidate's stat~m~_nt on an appropriate form provided by the City Clerk. The statement may incl~wle the name, age and occupation of the can- didate and a brief description of no more than 200 words of the candidate's education and ~mlifications expressed by the ca~4{date himself or herself. The statement shall not include party affiliation of the candidate, nor membership or activity in partisan political organizations. The statement shall be filed in the office of the City Clerk at the time the candidate's nomination papers are filed. The statsment may be withdrawn, but not changed, during the period for filing manination papers and until 5:00 p.m. of the next working day after the close of the nomination period. Section 2. S~ANISH LANGU~n~.. The City Clerk sb~ll have translated and printed in the voters pamphlet only the candidates stateaents of those can- didates who request translation and printing. Costs of translation shall be paid for by the candidate in advance. Section 3. ADDITIONAL MATER/A~.q. No candidate will be permitted to include aa~tio~l mterials in the sample ballot package. Section 4. P~. Each candidate sba11 pay in advance fifty dollars ($50.00) for the printing and distribution of the candidate's statement in the voter's pamphlet. Section 5. ~he City Clerk shall provide each caD~lidate or the can- didate's representative a copy of this Resolution at the time n~minating petitions are issued. Section 6. Ail previous resolutions establishing Council policy on payment for candidates statements are re~-=aled. Resolution No. 86-065 Page 2 Section 7. That this resolution shall apply at the next ensuing munici- pal election and at each municipal election after that time until changed by action of the City Council.
