A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA,
AUTHORIZING THE REMOVAL OF FOUR TREES
FROM THE OLD POWAY PARK
HERITAGE SYCAMORE GROVE
WHEREAS, on April 4, 2000, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 521, an
Urban Forestry Ordinance, which sets forth policies, regulations, and generally
accepted standards necessary for the planting, trimming and removal of trees; and
WHEREAS, the Urban Forestry Ordinance further establishes policies relating to
the protection of native trees and Heritage Trees in the City of Poway; and
WHEREAS, Section 12.32.040 of the Poway Municipal Code defines a Heritage
Tree as any mature tree or mature stand of trees designated by the City Council as
having historic or cultural significance; and
WHEREAS, the Poway City Council adopted Resolution No. 01 -098 on October
30, 2001, which designated the Sycamore Grove at Old Poway Park as Heritage Trees
in the City of Poway; and
WHEREAS, Cornerstone Consulting recommended that four of the trees from the
Old Poway Park Heritage Sycamore Grove, found to be in an advanced stage of decay
and a public safety hazard, be removed immediately.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Poway
as follows:
Removal of four trees from the Old Poway Park Heritage Sycamore Grove are
hereby authorized.
PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of
Poway at a regular meeting this 1 st day of November 2011.
