A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA
EXPRESSING CONCERN OVER THE SALE OF
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AT GASOLINE MINI-MARKETS
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed Issues Regarding the
Concurrent Sale of Alcohol and Gasoline, Planning and Policy
Analysis Section - Alcohol Program, County of San Diego Department
of Health Services; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed Position Paper
Common-Site Sale of Beerw Winew Gasoline, ARCO; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed Purdue University Study
- Auto Accidents Related to Drunken Driving, ARCO; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed Retail Availability of
Beer and Wine and Consumption Patterns: A Response, Research and
Evaluation Section - Alcohol Program, County of San Diego
Department of Health Services; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed Summary~ Dr. Larry L.
Berg Study Regarding Common Site Sales of Alcoholic Beverages and
Gasoline; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed Survey of Juveniles'
Method of Obtaining Alcohol Prior to Drinking and Driving, Polly
Tyler, Lance B. Segars; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed Survey of Off-Site
Purchase and Consumption Locations of Convicted Drinking Drivers,
Lance B. Segars, Barbara E. Ryan; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed Testimony for the
Assembly Select committee on Alcohol and Related ProDlems, Robert
I. Reynolds; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed Trends in Retail Alcohol
Licenses in San Diego County~ 1975 - 1985, Richard C. Burhenne,
Lance B. Segars.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Poway finds that the sale of alcoholic beverages at gaso-
line service stations is detrimental to the public health, safety,
and welfare.
