A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA
AMENDING THE LAND USE ELEMENT OF
THE GENERAL PLAN OF THE CITY OF POWAY
COMPREHENSIVE PLAN (GPA 87-02H)
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Poway recognizes that
the need may arise to amend the City's General Plan; and
WHEREAS, Section 65350, et seq., of the California Government
Code describes the procedures for amending General Plans; and
WHEREAS, the applicant, the City of Poway, has initiated a
General Plan Amendment, GPA 87-02H, for a modification of land use
on assessor parcels 314-202-16 through and including 314-202-30
having a total area of approximately 5.12 gross acres owned by the
Poway Redevelopment Agency and located on the west side of Midland
Road and bounded by Aubrey Street, Sycamore Avenue, and Temple
Street; and
WHEREAS, the application proposes a change in land use from
Residential Single Family 3 (2-3 du/net acre), Rural Residential C
(1 du/1, 2, or 4 net acres), and Commercial General to Open Space;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Poway held a properly noticed public
hearing in accordance with the California Government Code and the
California Environmental Quality Act to consider that request; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that proposed General Plan
Amendment 87-02H will not have significant adverse impact on the
environment and hereby issues a Negative Declaration; and
WHEREAS, The City Council further finds that the proposed
General Plan Amendment would ultimately foster an orderly pattern
of land use in the Midland Road/Aubrey Street area, and would also
result in a land use designation that is consistent with the future
intended use of the above described property as a City park site.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council does
hereby amend the City of Poway General Plan Land Use Map of the
Land Use Element for the above described property from Residential
Single Family 3 (2-3 du/net acre), Rural Residential C (1 du/1, 2,
or 4 net acres), and Commercial General to Open Space.
APPROVED and ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Poway,
State of California, this 22nd day of September, 1987.
