A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA
AMENDING THE LAND USE ELEMENT OF
THE GENERAL PLAN OF THE CITY OF POWAY
COMPREHENSIVE PLAN (GPA 87-02J)
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Poway recognizes that
the need may arise to amend the City's General Plan; and
WHEREAS, Section 65350, et seq., of the California Government
Code describes the procedures for amending General Plans; and
WHEREAS, the City of Poway has initiated an application
GPA 87-07J requesting a modification of land use on two adjoining
assessor parcels, Assessor Parcels 273-820-03 (5.06 acres) and
273-820-04 (17.40 acres) having a total combined area of approxima-
tely 22.10 acres and located at the northwest corner of Espola and
Valle Verde Roads; and
WHEREAS, the application requests a change in land use from
Rural Residential C (1 du/1, 2, or 4 net acres) to Residential
Single Family 2 (1-2 du/net acre) for Parcel 273-820-03, and from
Residential Single Family 2 (1-2 du/net acre) to Open Space for an
approximate 4.6 acre portion of Parcel 273-820-04; and
WHEREAS, the City of Poway held a properly noticed public
hearing in accordance with the California Government Code and the
California Environmental Quality Act to consider the amendment; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the proposed General Plan
Amendment 87-02J will not have a significant adverse impact on the
environment and hereby issues a Negative Declaration; and
WHEREAS, the City Council further finds that the proposed
General Plan Amendment is necessary and desirable for the promotion
of sound land use planning and circulation in the Espola Road/Valle
Verde Road area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council does
hereby amend the City of Poway General Plan Land Use Map of the
Land Use Element for the above described property from Rural
Residential C (1 du/1, 2, or 4 net acres) and Residential Single
Family 2 (1-2 du/net acre) to Residential Single Family 2 and Open
Space as identified above.
