A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA,
SUPPORTING THE CALIFORNIA WILDLIFE, COASTAL AND PARK LAND
CONSERVATION ACT OF lg88
WHEREAS, the Poway City Council has carefully considered the California
Wildlife, Coastal and Park Land Conservation Act of 1988 which will be on the
June 1988 ballot as Proposition 70; and
WHEREAS, this initiative would provide $776 million statewide to protect
wildlife habitat, park lands and coastal areas and to provide recreational
opportunities for the benefit of present and future generations of Californians;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that these lands are a vital and necessary
part of our community and help to preserve the quality of life in the City of
Poway; and
WHEREAS, these lands are an essential and irreplacable part of our State's
unique natural heritage and must be preserved; and
WHEREAS, the City of Poway will receive $136,920 from the passage of the
California Wildlife, Coastal and Park Land Conservation Act; and
WHEREAS, a statewide coalition of civic and conservation groups and busi-
nesses has formed as Californians for Parks and Wildlife to seek qualification
and voter approval of the California Wildlife, Coastal and Park Land Initiative
on the June, 1988 state ballot.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Poway,
California, does hereby support the California Wildlife, Coastal and Park Land
Conservation Act of 1988.
PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED, by the City Council of the City of Poway,
California, at a regular meeting thereof this 12th day of~pril, 1988.
