A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA
AMENDING THE LAND USE ELEMENT OF
THE GENERAL PLAN OF THE CITY OF POWAY
COMPREHENSIVE PLAN (GPA 88-01B)
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Poway recognizes that
the need may arise to amend the City's General Plan; and
WHEREAS, Section 65350, et seq., of the California Government
Code describes the procedures for amending General Plans; and
WHEREAS, the applicant, the City of Poway, has initiated a
General Plan Amendment, GPA 88-01B, for a modification of land use
on assessor parcels 317-222-10 and 317-300-01 through and including
317-300-29 having a total area of approximately 50.4 gross acres
owned by the Nature Conservancy and located in the southeast
quadrant of the intersection of Metate Lane and Montauk Street; and
WHEREAS, the application proposes a change in land use from
Rural Residential C (1 du/1, 2, or 4 net acres) to Open Space; and
WHEREAS, The City of Poway held a properly noticed public
hearing in accordance with the california Government Code and the
California Environmental Quality Act to consider that request; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that proposed General Plan
Amendment 88-01B will not have significant adverse impact on the
environment and hereby issues a Negative Declaration; and
WHEREAS, the City Council further finds that the proposed
General Plan Amendment would ultimately foster an orderly and com-
patible pattern of land use in the Metate Lane/Montauk Street area,
and would also result in a land use designation that is consistent
and appropriate for the site's existing adverse geological hazards
conditions in that the health, safety, and general welfare of
surrounding residents and land uses, and the community will be
significantly enhanced and protected.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council does
hereby amend the city of poway General Plan Land use Map of the
Land Use Element for the above described property from Rural
Residential C (1 du/1, 2, or 4 net acres) to Open Space.

California, at a regular meeting thereof this 31st day of May, 1988.
