A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA
SUPPORTING CHILD CARE
WHEREAS, children are the future of our communities and
appropriate care is essential to their well-being; and
WHEREAS, increased participation by women in the workforce
increases the need for professional child care; and,
WHEREAS, the demand for affordable, quality child care is not
currently being met; and
WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the community that the City
take a more active role in meeting this need.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council hereby
declares its support of all efforts to ensure that the child care
needs of the citizens of Poway are met; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council hereby directs
staff to pursue available funding sources to assist in this effort
including applying for a Local Coordination Grant from the State
Department of Education.
