A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA,
CONSENTING TO INCLUSION IN THE SAN DIEGO COUNTY
VECTOR CONTROL SERVICES ESTABLISHED PURSUANT TO
CALIFORNIA GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 25842.5
WHEREAS, in accordance with Government Code Section 25842.5, the Board of
Supervisors of San Diego County may provide the same services and exercise the
powers of a mosquito abatement district or a vector control district formed
pursuant to Chapter 5 (commencing with Section 2200) of Division 3 of the Health
and Safety Code; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of San Diego County has determined that
the public necessity and welfare requires that the Board expand vector control
services and exercise the powers of a vector control district; and
WHEREAS, effective July 1, 1989, the Board of Supervisors will provide the
same services and exercise the powers of a vector control district in the
unincorporated areas of the County; and
WHEREAS, before exercising such authority within the incorporated territory
of any city, the consent of the City Council shall first be obtained; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Poway finds that the health,
safety, and welfare of its residents will be protected and promoted by the
inclusion of the City in the San Diego County Vector Control Services; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors will include within the boundaries of the
area to be served under the powers of a vector control district any city whose
City Council requests inclusion by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the City of Poway may adopt a resolution on consent of the City
Council for the inclusion of its territory in the San Diego County Vector
Control Services.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Poway does hereby resolve
that this Council approves and consents to the inclusion of the incorporated
territory of the City within the boundaries of the San Diego County Vector
Control Services, and the services rendered and the concomitant powers exercised
as set forth in California Health and Safety Code Section 2200 et seq.,
including any proper service charges.
