A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA
AMENDING THE POWAY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
TO ADD A HAZARDOUS WASTE MANAGEMENT ELEMENT
TO THE GENERAL PLAN
(GPA 89-04H)
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it necessary to amend the
General Plan from time to time; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council to ensure that
any application for hazardous waste facilities be evaluated by
criteria established to protect the public health and welfare; and
WHEREAS, the proposed San Diego County Hazardous Waste
Management Plan provides thorough criteria for the evaluation of
such applications; and
WHEREAS, the City Council acknowledges the need for facilities
to treat and dispose of hazardous waste and finds that the proposed
San Diego County Hazardous Waste Management Plan provides adequate
opportunity for the siting of such facilities in the region; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the Environmental Impact
Report prepared for the San Diego County Hazardous Waste Management
Plan, and certified by the Poway City Council on July 11, 1989,
adequately and completely addresses all potential environmental
impacts of the proposed Hazardous Waste Management Element; and
WHEREAS, a properly noticed public hearing was conducted in
accordance with Section 65853, et seq, of the California Government
Code concerning the adoption of the San Diego County Hazardous
Waste Management Plan as the Hazardous Waste Management Element of
the Poway General Plan on September 12, 1989.
NOW THEREFORE, the Poway City Council does hereby adopt the
proposed San Diego County Hazardous Waste Management Plan as the
Hazardous Waste Management Element of the Poway General Plan.
ADOPTED and APPROVED by the City ~uncil of the City of Poway
at a regular meeting thereof this 12t~ ~ay of September, 1989.
