A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA,
SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE CITY
A MEASURE RELATING TO THE DIRECT ELECTION
OF A MAYOR FOR A FOUR YEAR TERM,
AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. g0-033
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Poway has called a Special
Municipal Election in said City to be held on June 5, 1990; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Poway desires to submit to the
qualified electors of said City at the Special Municipal Election the question
of whether the electors shall elect four Councilmembers and a Mayor who shall
have a term of office of four years; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of said City is authorized by Government Code
Section 34901 to submit the meausure to the qualified electors.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
1. That said City Council, pursuant to its rights and authority so to do,
does hereby determine that there shall be and there is hereby ordered submitted
to the qualified electors of the City the following question:
Shall the electors of the City of Poway elect four YES
City Councilmembers and a Mayor who shall have a
term of office of four years?
NO
2. That a cross (+) placed in the voting square after the word "YES" in
the manner hereinbefore provided shall be counted in favor of the adoption of
the measure. A cross {+} placed in the voting square after the word "NO" in the
manner hereinbefore provided shall be counted against the adoption of the
measure.
3. The measure submitted by this resolution shall be designated on the
ballot by a letter printed on the left margin of the square containing the
description of the measure, as provided in Section 10219 of the Elections Code.
4. That Resolution No. 90-033 is hereby rescinded.
PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED, by the City Council of the City of Poway,
California, at a regular meeting thereof thi~ day of March, 1990.
