Res 90-196RESOLUTION NO. 90 - 196 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA OPPOSING AN INCREASE IN THE FEDERAL MOTOR FUEL TAX AS A MEASURE TO REDUCE THE NATIONAL DEFICIT WHEREAS, the Highway Users Federation has requested that the City of Poway oppose Federal Legislation related to raising the Federal Motor Fuel Tax in efforts to reduce the national deficit; and W~dEREAS, an increase in the Federal Motor Fuel Tax would not significantly reduce the National government's estimated three trillion dollar deficit; and WHEREAS, there is the threat that Federal Legislation may once again be proposed during the 1990 Legislative session to raise the Federal Motor Fuel Tax in attempts to achieve a reduction in the national deficit. NOW THEREFORE, IT IS RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Poway does hereby resolve as follows: The City Council hereby opposes Federal Legislation which proposes to raise the Federal Motor Fuel Tax for the purpose of reducing the national deficit. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution.
