A JOINT RESOLUTION OF THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA
AND THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE
POWAY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
APPROVING THE CREATION OF A CITY OF POWAY AND
POWAY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
JOINT USE SUBCOMMITTEE FOR INTERJURISDICTIONAL COOPERATION
WHEREAS, the City and the District are mutually interested
in creating a Joint Use Subcommittee for Interjurisdictional
Cooperation to promote improved communication between the City
and the District; and
WHEREAS, the City and the District have entered into several
joint project agreements which warrant the need for the city
Council and School Board members to meet to discuss interrelated
projects and issues; and
WHEREAS, in the interest of providing the best public
services, cooperation between the City and the District is
necessary.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Poway and the Board of Education of the Poway Unified
School District do hereby resolve as follows:
Section 1: The City and District hereby approve that the Joint
Use Subcommittee for Interjurisdictional Cooperation shall advise
the city Council and the School Board on specific matters
involving both the City and the District as well as provide input
on joint City and District projects. The Joint Use Subcommittee
shall serve to clarify information about City and District
procedures, projects, and project objectives.
Section 2: The City and District further approve that the Joint
Use Subcommittee shall review issues raised by the public and
undertake special studies related to joint use project issues
with the assistance of staff.
Section 3: The Joint Use Subcommittee shall be comprised of two
City Council members, two School board members, and the City
Manager and School Superintendent as exofficio members.
Section 4: The Joint Use Subcommittee shall meet quarterly at a
time and place acceptable to committee members unless additional
meetings are deemed necessary by either agency. An Annual
meeting comprised of the entire City Council and School Board
shall be scheduled.

Section 5: The City Clerk and the Board of Education Clerk shall
certify the adoption of this resolution.
