A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING ITS
MEMBERS TO FILE A WRITTEN ARGUMENT OR ARGUMENTS REGARDING
CITY MEASURES AND DIRECTING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO
PREPARE AN IMPARTIAL ANALYSIS
WHEREAS, a special municipal election is to be held in the City of Poway,
California, on June 3, 1997, at which time there will be submitted to the
qualified electors of said City the following measure:
Shall an Ordinance replacing the fire protection fee in effect in
Poway since 1982 with a fire protection special tax be adopted which
will not increase the amount of the assessment and will be used only
for fire protection purposes?
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA, DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That this City Council, being the legislative body of the City
of Poway, hereby authorizes each of the individuals below named to file a written .
argument or arguments not to exceed 300 words in length relating to the City
measures as specified above in accordance with Article 4, Chapter 3, Division 9
of the Elections Code of the State of California and to change the argument until
and including the date fixed by the City Clerk after which no arguments for or
against the City measure may be submitted to the City Clerk:
DON HIGGINSON, Mayor
BETTY REXFORD, Deputy Mayor
MICKEY CAFAGNA, Councilmember
BOB EMERY, Councilmember
JAY GOLDBY, Councilmember
Section 2. That the City Council directs the City Attorney to prepare an
impartial analysis of the measure not to exceed 500 words in length showing the
effect of the measure on the existing law and the operation of the measure.
PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Poway,
California, at a regular meeting thereof this 25th day of February, 1997.
