A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA
AMENDING THE POWAY ROAD SPECIFIC PLAN
(SPA 95-01B)
WHEREAS, Chapter 17.47 (Specific Plan Regulations) of the Poway Municipal
Code (Zoning Development Code) provides for the preparation and adoption of specific
plans in accordance with Section 65450, et seq., of the California Government Code
(Article 8, Specific Plans); and
WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Poway adopted the Poway Road
Specific Plan (SP 95-01) in May of 1996; and
WHEREAS, on September 8, 1998 the City Council approved General Plan
Amendment/Zone Change 98-02A&B redesignating the four parcels located within the Plan
area from Town Center to Commercial General; and
WHEREAS, the City Council directed staff to prepare a specific plan to limit the
types of uses permitted in the redesignated area; and
WHEREAS, to avoid interpretation conflicts between the two proposed overlapping
specific plans, the subject parcels were removed from the boundary of the Poway Road
Specific Plan; and
WHEREAS, on October 6, 1998 the City Council held a propedy noticed public
hearing in accordance with the California Government Code to consider the removal of four
parcels from the Poway Road Specific Plan; and
WHEREAS, the potential environmental impacts associated with the modification
of the boundaries of the Poway Road Specific Plan were adequately discussed in the
adopted Negative Declarations prepared for the related General Plan Amendments (GPA
98-02A&B).
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Poway does hereby amend the
Poway Road Specific Plan (SP 95-01) as follows:

Located within the Town Center District are three large commercial complexes, several
mini-malls and numerous single use structures. The main centers include Poway Plaza,
the Town and Country Center, and Creekside Plaza.
APPROVED and ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Poway, State of
California, this 6th day of October, 1998.
