RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA
APPROVING AN APPLICATION TO THE
URBAN FORESTRY GRANT PROGRAM THROUGH THE
CALIFORNIA TREES FOR THE MILLENNIUM INITIATIVE
FUNDED THROUGH THE FOREST IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR THE
TWIN PEAKS ROAD/POMERADO ROAD TREE REPLANTING PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Governor of the State of California in cooperation with the
California State Legislature has enacted the California Trees for the Millennium
Initiative for 1999, which provides funds to the State of California and its political
subdivisions for urban forestry programs; and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Forestry and Fire Protection has
been delegated the responsibility for the administration of the program within the
State, setting up necessary procedures governing application by local agencies
and non-profit organizations under the program; and
WHEREAS, said procedure established by the State Department of
Forestry and Fire Protection require the applicant to certify by resolution the
approval of application before submission of said application to the State; and
WHEREAS, the applicant will enter into an agreement with the State of
California to carry out a tree planting project;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Poway as follows:
Section 1. The filing of an application for the "TREES FOR THE
MILLENNIUM" tree planting grant program, for the Twin Peaks Road/Pomerado
Road Tree Replanting Project is approved to be submitted on November 24,
2000.
Section 2. Certifies that funds under the jurisdiction of the Poway City
Council are available to begin the project.
Section 3. Certifies that funds under the jurisdiction of the Poway City
Council are available to begin the project.
Section 4. Certifies that the City of Poway will expend grant funds prior to
March 1,2003.

Section 5. Appoints Jim Howell, Director of Public Works, as agent of the
City of Poway to conduct all negotiations, execute and submit all documents
including, but not limited to applications, agreements, amendments, payment
requests and so on, which may be necessary for the completion of the
aforementioned project.
PASSED, ADOPTED, AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of
Poway, California, at a regular meeting this 28th day of November 2000.
