Res 00-118__ RESOLUTION NO. 00- 118 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING THE CITY OF POWAY'S 2000 URBAN WATER MANAGEMENT PLAN AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 96-003 WHEREAS, the California Legislature enacted Assembly Bill 797 (Water Code Section 1061 et. seq., known as the Urban Water Management Planning Act) during the 1983-1984 Regular Session (and as amended subsequently), which mandates that every supplier providing water for municipal purposes to more than 3,000 customers or supplying more than 3,000 acre-feet of water annually, prepare an Urban Water Management Plan, the primary objective of which is to plan for the conservation and efficient use of water; and WHEREAS, the City is an urban supplier of water providing water to over 13,300 customers; and WHEREAS, the Urban Water Management Planning Act requires that the Plan be periodically reviewed al least once every five years, and that the City make any amendments or changes to its Plan which are indicated by the review; and WHEREAS, the Plan is required by December 31, 2000, after public review and hearing, and must be filed with the California Department of Water Resources within thirty days of adoption; and WHEREAS, the City has, therefore, prepared and made available for review a draft Urban Water Management Plan, and properly noticed a public hearing by the Poway City Council regarding said Plan on December 19, 2000. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Poway as follows: Section 1. The 2000 City of Poway Urban Water Management Plan is hereby approved and adopted. Section 2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to file the 2000 Urban Water Management Plan with the California Department of Water Resources within 30 days after this date. Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to implement the Water Conservation Programs as set forth in the 2000 Urban Water Management Plan, which includes water shortage contingency analysis and implementation of Best Management Practices to carry out effective and equitable water conservation and water recycling programs.
