BACKGROUND
On February 28, 1995, during the State of the City address, Mayor Don Higginson
announced the implementation of a Commercial Enhancement Award. This recognition
program is designed to highlight the investment in our community put forth by
local businesses.
FINDINGS
It is a goal of the City Council to foster economic well-being in our community
by attracting quality businesses to the City of Poway and by sustaining
established local merchants. For this reason, the Mayor introduced the concept
of providing a recognition program to acknowledge Poway companies which renovate,
upgrade, or otherwise reinvest in their businesses.
The Commercial Enhancement Award program will provide a mechanism to express the
City's appreciation for improvements to commercial projects within the City of
Poway. Selected businesses will receive a certificate from the Council.
