Staff is recommending that the City council authorize co-sponsorship of this event and waive the parking fees, facilities fees, and fishing fees. ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW This item is not subject to CEQA review. FISCAL IMPACT The City will waive the parking fee for non-city participants attending the Family Day event and the facilities fees for "For Parents' and Kids' Sake." Waiving the facilities fees will result in a loss of approximately $273 in revenue. No estimate can be made at this time on the reduction in revenue from waiving the parking for nonresidents attending the Family Day event or fishing fees for participants. BACKGROUND "For Parents' and Kids' Sake", a nonprofit Poway family service organization is requesting the City of Poway to co-sponsor their first Family Day at Lake Poway on Sunday, May 21, 1995. (See attached letter from Neville Bothwell.) This fund raising event is also being sponsored by Target Stores and is supported by local businesses and local service clubs. FINDINGS If the City agrees to co-sponsor this event, "For Parents' and Kids' Sake" is 'requesting that the City of Poway waive the parking fee for non-city residents attending the event, the fishing fees and the facilities fees for "For Parents' and Kids' Sake." This fund raising event is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, 1995. Family Day at Lake Poway is planned to be a fun filled day with games and activities for all ages and members of the family. Some of the activities planned for the day include fishing, boating, clowns, face painting, music, and food. .A. The day is intended to be a celebi~on of the ~ly with events and entertainment for all ages. This will include fishing, boating, volleyball, clowns, face painting, a puppet show, music, food, and prizes. The day will also serve as athnd-raiser with small donstions for events from 50 c to $1. TARGET Stores has agreed to become a major sponsor, with additional financial and volunteer support from Cor-O-Van, Poway Kiwanis, Poway Rotary and the Poway Lions. Staffof the Conanunity Services Dept of the City lmve been most helpful in plaaniag the event. We would like to request that the City become a co-spensor by waiving ~,uhy fees to the lake for nen-Poway residents ~ending this timction and waiving the city fishi~ fee for participants for that day.
