Cannon, Maintenance Operations Manag C FROM: INITIATED BY: DATE: June 6, 1995 SUBJECT: Acceptance for the Lake Poway Playground Project - Phase I ABSTRACT The City Council hired Court Concepts to construct Phase I of the Lake Poway Playground Project at Lake Poway. This contract is now complete. With this action, the Council will accept the project and authorize final payment. ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW This project was determined to be exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act. FISCAL IMPACT The project was completed within budgeted amount. No additional funds are needed. The majority of this project was paid for with Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Funds. A portion of the project not directly attributable to accessibility was funded through the General Fund. ADDffiONAL PUBLIC NOTIFICATION AND CORRESPONDENCE None. RECOMMENDATION -..if It is recommended tl1aWhe City Council: 1. Formally accept the improvements. 2. Authorize the City Clerk to file and record a Notice of Completion. 3. Authorize the release of the retention for the amount of $5,746.71 if unencumbered, forty days after filing the Notice of Completion. Cannon, Maintenance Operations Manager DATE: June 6, 1995 SUBJECT: Acceptance for the Lake poway Playground Project - Phase I BACKGROUND On January 19, 1993, the poway City Council approved a Transition_ Plan to comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990. Included within Phase II of the revised Transition Plan was the removal of architectural barriers and the renovation of the playground near the Lake Poway group activity picnic area. On January 3, 1995, the City Council awarded the contract for construction of Phase I (barrier removal and accessibility upgrades) of the Lake poway Playground Project at Lake Poway to Court Concepts. The amount of the contract was $50,049.14. FINDINGS Due to two change orders, and an extra $4,450.00 in additional handrails, the amount of the contract was increased by $7,417.91 for a total contract amount of $57,467.05.
