SUBJECT: Extension of Law Enforcement Contract for Fiscal Year 1995/1996
ABSTRACT
The Law Enforcement agreement between the County of San Diego and the City of Poway will expire on
June 30, 1995. Staff recommends that City Council approve the attached amendment, an extension to the
current contract period through September 30, 1995.

SUBJECf: Extension of Law Enforcement Contract for Fiscal Year 1995/1996
BACKGROUND
In Fiscal Year 1989/1990, City Council approved a five-year contract for Law Enforcement
services with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department The contract has proven to be
beneficial to both the City of Poway and the County of San Diego.
FINDINGS
The current agreement contains costing methodologies that include direct and indirect costs and are
currently being reviewed and recalculated. Several meetings have been held with representatives
of the nine contract cities to negotiate a new long-term agreement.

This item is not subject to CEQA review.
FISCAL IMPACf

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that City Council approve the amendment to the agreement with the County of

TInS THIRD AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT is made by the COT.JNT.Y OF SAN DIEGO

WHEREAS, County and Contractor have previously entered into an Agreement, a copy of which
is on file with the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors as Contract No. .
WHEREAS, County and Contractor desire to amend said Agreement to provide for continuation
of services to provide adequate time to negotiate a new Agreement, NOW THEREFORE,
County and contractor agree as follows:
1. That the purpose of the Agreement is to provide services as set forth in the Joint
Operating and Financial Plan, Attachment B, which is hereby incorporated by
reference herein:
2. That the term of the Agreement shall be extended through September 30, 1995.
3. All other provisions of the Agreement shall remain in force.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, this Third Amendment to Agreement is hereby executed and made.
