A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA
APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDS FROM THE
STATE OF CALIFORNIA ENERGY COMMISSION
TRAFFIC SIGNAL BATTERY BACKUP SYSTEMS GRANT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, pursuant to Public Resources Code Section 25403.8, the State Energy
Resources Conservation and Development Commission (Energy Commission) is
authorized to provide grants to city, county or city and county governments for battery
backup systems for traffic signals; and
WHEREAS, said procedures established by the California Energy Resources
Conservation and Development Commission require the applicant to certify by resolution
approval of the application; and
WHEREAS, in order to be eligible for funding, the battery backup systems must be
used in conjunction with light emitting diode traffic signals; and
WHEREAS, the applicant will enter into an agreement with the State of California for
development of the project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Poway
authorizes the submittal of an application to the California Energy Resources Conservation
and Development Commission for a Traffic Signal Battery Backup System Grant. The
Director of Public Works of the City of Poway is hereby authorized and empowered to
execute in the name of the City of Poway all necessary applications, contracts,
agreements, amendments and payment request hereto for the purposes of securing grant
funds and to implement and carry out the purposes specified in the grant application.
PASSED, ADOPTED, and APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Poway,
California, at a regular meeting this 25th day of June, 2002.
