SUBJECT: Report Regarding City Effort Requested by the Poway Chamber of Commerce
for City Fair/Birthday Bash
ABSTRACT
On October 31, 1995, the Chamber of Commerce requested City assistance to hold a 15th
birthday party for the City of Poway. The Birthday Bash was scheduled for the future
Library site on December 2, 1995 to include vendor stalls, historic displays, and a
dance. The Chamber also requested $2,000 from the City to help pay for The Renegade
Band, as well as a staff liaison to coordinate the activities. On November 2, 1995,
City staff met with representatives of the Chamber to discuss the event. It was
concluded that moving the Fair to the library site would not be economically or
logistically feasible. The annual Street Fair will be held at Midland Road and will
incorporate a birthday celebration for the City. This report recommends that the
Council approve the $2,000 funding request which was recently reinstated by Vicki
Lazowski-Gowey.
