Fitch, Assistant City Manager ~)+- Penny Riley, Senior Management Analyst DATE: November 7, 1995 SUBJECT: Report Regarding City Effort Requested by the Poway Chamber of Commerce for City Fair/Birthday Bash ABSTRACT On October 31, 1995, the Chamber of Commerce requested City assistance to hold a 15th birthday party for the City of Poway. The Birthday Bash was scheduled for the future Library site on December 2, 1995 to include vendor stalls, historic displays, and a dance. The Chamber also requested $2,000 from the City to help pay for The Renegade Band, as well as a staff liaison to coordinate the activities. On November 2, 1995, City staff met with representatives of the Chamber to discuss the event. It was concluded that moving the Fair to the library site would not be economically or logistically feasible. The annual Street Fair will be held at Midland Road and will incorporate a birthday celebration for the City. This report recommends that the Council approve the $2,000 funding request which was recently reinstated by Vicki Lazowski-Gowey. ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW This informational report is not subject to CEQA review. FISCAL IMPACT This report will result in an appropriation of $2,000 for the Birthday Bash. ADDITIONAL PUBLIC NOTIFICATION AND CORRESPONDENCE None. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council appropriate $2,000 from the unappropriated General Fund. ACTION .
