Wahlsten, City Clerlt "'--0 DATE: December 19, 1995 SUBJECT: 1996 Calendar for Cancelled Meetings ABSTRACT As requested by the City Council, in 1994 staff proposed and the City Council adopted a calendar for the year and a procedure for cancelling any meetings that were not shown as cancelled on this calendar. Staff is proposing the calendar for 1996. ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW None is required. FISCAL IMPACI' None. A~DITIONAL PUBLIC NOTIFICATION AND CORRESPONDENCE None. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council adopt a 1996 calendar and continue the method for cancelling any additional meetings. Wahlsten, City Clerk~ December 19, 1995 SUBJECT: 1996 Calendar for Cancelled Meetings BACKGROUND Section 2.18.040 of the Poway Municipal Code calls for regular meetings of the City Council to be held every Tuesday except on certain State holidays that may fall on a Tuesday. Starting in 1994, the City COuncil adopted a calendar for the year stating which Tuesday meetings would be cancelled and agreed that any additional meetings could only be cancelled by prior action of the City Council. Staff is hereby proposing the 1996 calendar. FINDINGS It would be appropriate to cancel the meetings of January 2 (Day after New Year's Day); April 9 (spring break for PUSD); May 28 (Memorial Day); July 16 (Mayor and Counci lmembers , Executive Forum, Monterey); October 22 (League annual conference, Anaheim); November 5 (Election Day); November 26 (Tha'ksgiving week); December 24 and 31 (winter holidays). Additional meet'"gs proposed to be cancelled because of a short agenda or Councilmembers' vacation schedules would be presented to the City Council for approval at a prior meeting. ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW None Required FISCAL IMPACT None.
