SUBJECT: Poway Li brary: Acceptance of Removal of Asbestos and
Phase I Oemolition at 13536 Poway Road
ABSTRACT
Upon final inspection of these projects, staff finds the projects to be
complete in accordance with the standards and specifications of the contracts.
It is recommended that the City Council approve the acceptance of these
projects.
BACKGROUND
On Oecember S, 1992, the City Council awarded the contract for removal of
asbestos to Environmental Control Systems. The contract amount was $lS,SOO.
On January 5, 1993, the City Council awarded the contract for Phase I:
Oemolition to Randazzo Construction. The contract amount was $24,000.
FINDINGS
The asbestos removal contract was completed and passed the appropriate
inspections. The disposal of contaminated materials was done in accordance
with state and federal regulations. The demolition project was completed in
accordance with the contract specifications.
FISCAL IMPACT
The projects were completed within available budget and no additional funds
are needed.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT REVIEW
An environmental review of the project was previously conducted. The review
determined that the project was exempt from CEQA and a notice has been filed
with the County Clerk. No additional environmental review is necessary.
PUBLIC NOTIFICATION AND CORRESPONDENCE
Standard distribution.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council:
1. Formally accept the asbestos removal and demolition work as
complete.
2. Authorize the City Clerk to file and record Notices of
Completion.
