A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF POWAY, CALIFORNIA,
RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. P -10 -15 AND
ESTABLISHING THE MICKEY CAFAGNA COMMUNITY CENTER
WHEREAS, on April 6, 2010, the City Council of the City of Poway adopted
Resolution No. P- 10 -15, establishing the Michael P. Cafagna Community Center; and
WHEREAS, on September 9, 2014, the City Council considered a schematic
design of the future Michael P. Cafagna Community Center and declared that the name
should be changed to the Mickey Cafagna Community Center; and
WHEREAS, as a resident of Poway for more than 30 years, Mickey Cafagna was
appointed to the City Council in 1992, and was elected as Poway's third Mayor in 1998;
and
WHEREAS, Mickey is remembered for his leadership, consensus building, and
dedication to the economic vitality of the City; and
WHEREAS, Mickey's accomplishments include building consensus for the voter -
approved transportation sales tax initiative; fundraising and development of the Poway
Boys and Girls Club; leadership for the development of the Business Park; advocating
for affordable housing; and
WHEREAS, Mickey's contributions have enriched the community; and
WHEREAS, The Mickey Cafagna Community Center building will be tangible
evidence of the community's acknowledgement of his years of service and an
expression of appreciation for the energy and commitment Mickey has provided to the
community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Poway, as follows:
1. Resolution No. P -10 -15 is hereby rescinded.
2. The Mickey Cafagna Community Center is hereby established.

at a regular meeting this 3`d day of March 2015.
